Use Rolink responsibly
Rolink is infrastructure. It links Roblox accounts to wallets, reads public on-chain data, and can send tokens from your project’s managed wallet within the policy you set. None of that decides whether a particular experience is allowed. That depends on what you build with it, who plays it, and where they live.
This page points you to the rules that matter and the questions worth asking before you ship. It’s general information, not legal advice.
Read Roblox’s rules
Section titled “Read Roblox’s rules”Everything you build on Roblox is covered by its Terms of Use and Community Standards. Read both with your design in front of you, and pay particular attention to what they say about:
- Off-platform transactions tied to in-experience content. Anything a player gets, unlocks or keeps in your experience because of a payment or transfer made outside Roblox.
- Real-world value. Items, currencies or rewards in the experience that have, or appear to have, value outside it, which tokens and NFTs often do.
- Promotions. Giveaways, contests, sweepstakes, airdrops and similar campaigns.
- Off-platform links. Which links an experience may show, where, and to whom. This decides how you can point players to your linking page.
These rules change. Re-read them before launch, and again when you add a feature that touches wallets or tokens.
Remember who plays
Section titled “Remember who plays”Many Roblox players are minors. Think about who can reach your linking page from your experience, and whether each wallet-related feature suits every age group that plays it. A feature that’s ordinary for adults on the wider web can mean something different in an experience full of children.
Check the laws where your players live
Section titled “Check the laws where your players live”Depending on your design and your players’ countries, laws on gambling and games of chance, financial services and securities, consumer protection, children’s privacy and data, and taxes may apply. This list isn’t complete, and the answers differ from one country to the next.
Keep a clear separation
Section titled “Keep a clear separation”Some questions that help keep the line between your experience and the chain clear:
- Is the wallet optional? Can someone play and enjoy the experience fully without ever linking one?
- Does anything in the experience depend on money spent outside Roblox? Including what players own, can access or how they progress.
- Can playing earn something with real-world value? For example, tokens or NFTs sent to players from your managed wallet.
- Is chance involved? Random rewards tied to tokens or NFTs deserve particular care.
- Where does the linking page appear, and who sees it? In the experience, in its description, on social channels.
- Do players understand what linking does? That it’s free, sends no transaction, proves which wallet is theirs, and can be undone from the same page.
If an answer makes you hesitate, that’s the part of the design to check against the rules above.
What Rolink does on its side
Section titled “What Rolink does on its side”- Linking costs nothing and moves nothing. Players sign a plain-text message, not a transaction.
- Players’ keys stay with players. Rolink never sees them and stores only public addresses.
- Players can unlink at any time, from your game’s linking page, without asking you.
- Transactions are off until you turn them on. A new project has no managed wallet, SOL transfers are off and no token is allowed until you set the policy in the dashboard, and every transaction then runs within the limits you set.
- Links stay with your game. A wallet a player links in your experience is visible to your project only.
When in doubt
Section titled “When in doubt”Ask. Roblox’s official support channels can answer questions about its rules, and a lawyer who knows the countries your players live in can answer the rest. It’s much easier to adjust a design before launch than after.
Next steps
Section titled “Next steps”- Link wallets: the linking page and how to point players to it.
- Send transactions: the policy, limits and budgets for your managed wallet.
- Security model: what protects players and your project.
