FAQ
Do I need to host anything?
Section titled “Do I need to host anything?”No. Rolink is a hosted service. You create a project in the dashboard, store its API key as a Roblox Secret, and add the Luau SDK to your game. The linking page, the API, the managed wallet and the event publisher all run on Rolink.
The one thing you create on Roblox’s side is an OAuth app for your game, so players can sign in with Roblox on your linking page. See Link wallets.
How do I sign in to the dashboard?
Section titled “How do I sign in to the dashboard?”With a Solana wallet, such as Phantom, Solflare or Backpack. You sign a free message, which sends no transaction, and the wallet’s address becomes your Rolink account. It needs no funds. Sign in with the same wallet each time, because your projects belong to its account. See Dashboard and projects.
Why does my game need its own Roblox OAuth app?
Section titled “Why does my game need its own Roblox OAuth app?”Rolink has no Roblox app of its own. Each game signs its players in through an app its developer creates in Creator Dashboard and Roblox reviews, so Roblox’s consent screen shows your app, and a player who signs in on one game’s linking page isn’t signed in on another’s. Until Roblox reviews your app, it works for up to 10 users, which is enough to test.
How much does it cost?
Section titled “How much does it cost?”Rolink is free during the beta. Paid plans will be announced before they apply.
You still pay network fees for the transactions your game sends. The project’s managed wallet pays every fee, plus the rent for a recipient’s token account when they don’t have one for that mint yet, so you fund it with SOL. Linking is free for players, because signing a message isn’t a transaction, and players never pay for transactions your game sends.
What are the beta limits?
Section titled “What are the beta limits?”Each project gets:
- 100,000 API requests per day (UTC)
- 600 API requests per minute
- 1,000 transactions in any 24 hours
- 10 active API keys and 10 watched addresses
Each developer can have up to 5 projects. A request over a quota is refused with HTTP 429 and a code such as daily_quota_exceeded. The dashboard’s Overview shows today’s usage. Limits and quotas lists every limit.
Does it work on mainnet?
Section titled “Does it work on mainnet?”Yes. You choose devnet or mainnet when you create a project, and it can’t be changed later. The cluster is written into every message players sign, and every read and transaction uses it.
Build and test on a devnet project first, then create a mainnet project for launch. The two are separate: each has its own API keys, managed wallet, policy and links, so players who linked on the devnet project link again on the mainnet one.
Which wallets can players use?
Section titled “Which wallets can players use?”The linking page lists every wallet that implements the Wallet Standard with the standard:connect and solana:signMessage features on a Solana chain, which covers Phantom, Solflare, Backpack and most current Solana wallets. If it finds none, it falls back to an older injected provider (window.phantom.solana or window.solana) that can sign messages. Linking only needs a message signature, so the wallet’s network setting doesn’t matter.
Who holds the keys?
Section titled “Who holds the keys?”- Players’ keys never leave their wallet. Players sign a message in their own wallet. Rolink receives the public address and the signature, and stores only the address.
- Your project wallet’s key lives in Turnkey. It’s generated and kept inside Turnkey’s secure enclaves. Rolink stores the wallet’s ID and address, and asks Turnkey for a signature only after a request passes your policy.
- Your API keys are hashed. Rolink stores a SHA-256 hash and the first 16 characters. The full key is shown once, when you create it.
- Your Open Cloud key is encrypted. Rolink stores it with AES-256-GCM and decrypts it only to publish your events.
- Your Roblox OAuth client secret is encrypted the same way, and decrypted only to sign players in on your linking page.
- Your dashboard wallet’s keys stay in your wallet. You sign in by signing a message, and Rolink stores only the address.
Your game servers only ever see public addresses.
Is Rolink allowed on Roblox?
Section titled “Is Rolink allowed on Roblox?”Rolink is infrastructure. Whether a particular use is allowed depends on your experience. Before you ship, read Roblox’s Terms of Use and Community Standards, especially the rules on off-platform links, off-platform transactions tied to in-experience content, real-world value and promotions. Check the laws where your players live too, and remember that many Roblox players are minors.
This isn’t legal advice, and you’re responsible for how your experience uses Rolink. Use Rolink responsibly lists what to check.
Can players link a wallet from inside the game?
Section titled “Can players link a wallet from inside the game?”No. Roblox games can’t talk to wallets, so players link on your project’s hosted linking page, in a browser. Your servers learn about the link within seconds through WalletLinked if live events are on. Otherwise they see it on their first lookup after the wallet cache expires.
Roblox restricts which off-platform links an experience can show, so check the current rules before you show the linking URL in your game.
Can one wallet be linked to two Roblox accounts?
Section titled “Can one wallet be linked to two Roblox accounts?”Not in the same game. Within a project, a wallet belongs to one Roblox account at a time, and an account has one wallet. If someone proves ownership of the wallet from a second account, the wallet moves: the first account gets wallet_unlinked and the second gets wallet_linked. A player who links a new wallet to their own account only triggers wallet_linked.
Links are kept per project, so a player’s link in one game says nothing about another game.
Can one project serve several games?
Section titled “Can one project serve several games?”Create one project per experience. A project publishes events to a single universe ID, so servers of a second experience wouldn’t receive them, and a shared project would also share its links, transaction limits, hourly budgets and quotas across games. All places inside one experience share its universe, so one project covers them.
Why are amounts strings?
Section titled “Why are amounts strings?”Luau numbers are 64-bit floats. They’re exact only up to 2^53, and decimals like 0.1 can’t be represented exactly in binary. Token amounts in base units can go past that range, so the SDK and the HTTP API pass amounts as decimal strings, such as "12.5".
The SDK accepts numbers too and converts them, rounded to 9 decimal places. Strings are the safe choice for large or precise amounts. Rolink rejects an amount with more decimals than the mint allows (invalid_amount).
Do NFT reads work on every cluster?
Section titled “Do NFT reads work on every cluster?”Yes. On devnet and mainnet, GetAssets and OwnsCollection read classic NFTs, including programmable NFTs and editions. Where Rolink has a DAS endpoint for the cluster, they also see compressed NFTs and Metaplex Core assets, and each asset comes with its image. A collection counts only when it’s verified. See Read on-chain data.
What data does Rolink store?
Section titled “What data does Rolink store?”For you: the wallet address you sign in with, and your projects with their settings. For each project: wallet links (the player’s Roblox user ID and username, the wallet address and the link time), transaction records, watch cursors and daily usage counts. Secrets are stored only as hashes (API keys) or encrypted (Open Cloud keys and Roblox OAuth client secrets). Rolink never stores private keys or Roblox tokens. How it works has the full list.
How do I delete data?
Section titled “How do I delete data?”- Players remove their own link with Unlink on your linking page. The link is deleted and your servers get
wallet_unlinked. - You can revoke API keys, remove the saved Open Cloud key and Roblox client secret, and remove watched addresses in the dashboard.
- Deleting a project revokes its keys, takes its linking page offline and stops its watched addresses. Rolink keeps the project’s links and transaction records for audit. Move funds out of the managed wallet first, because once the project’s keys are revoked you can’t send from it anymore. See Dashboard and projects.
A support address for other requests about your data is on its way.
Is there a Wally package?
Section titled “Is there a Wally package?”Not yet. The manifest is ready (rolink/rolink, server realm), but the package isn’t on the Wally index. Until it is, download Rolink.rbxmx and insert it in Studio or sync it with Rojo, as shown in the Quickstart.
Is Rolink affiliated with Roblox or Solana?
Section titled “Is Rolink affiliated with Roblox or Solana?”No. Rolink isn’t affiliated with Roblox Corporation or the Solana Foundation.
